22nd ANNUAL AFRICAN FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

AFRICAN HERITAGE PAVILION 
AFRICA, AFRICANS, STRONGER – WISER – BETTER

The African Heritage Pavilion is organized by AFRICA International House, the Chicago Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on African Affairs, and the Du Sable Museum of African American Heritage. Festival attendees will be given an intimate look into the traditions, culture, and heritage of the African Diaspora. 

THEMES FOR 2011

 FREEDOM RISING – BIRTH OF A NEW NATION Examine the struggle of South Sudan in its hard-earned independence. Members of the South Sudan community of Chicago will be at the Festival to share their history and culture, including the former Lost Boys of Sudan.

 

CHICAGO’S FOUNDER RECOGNIZED Come and see the DuSable Mobile Museum, a traveling, interactive exhibit featuring  “Father of Chicago: The Legacy of Jean Baptiste Point DuSable.

 

Nigerian History Day

Engage with Nigeria’s diverse groups in Chicago and learn about their programs, events, traditions, and efforts to bring Nigerian Culture to Chicago.
